By JEFF Z. KLEIN. In print: May 29, 2013. The Rangers fired Coach John Tortorella on Wednesday, four days after the team was eliminated in the N.H.L. Eastern Conference semifinals by the Boston Bruins.

After four and a half seasons of halfway decent hockey (which built-in a Eastern Conference No. 1 seed in 2012 and a 19-25 playoff record overall), the New York Rangers have canned head coach John Tortorella.
